Bilaspur: Sheikh Abdul Qadir, a food inspector from Kota, has been suspended due to irregularities in his work and services. This was based on a report by the SDM (sub-divisional magistrate) of Kota, according to an order issued on suspension by Collector Avnish Sharan. It was done after a thorough analysis of the issues raised, and objections received on the inspector’s behaviour.

The issued order suggests that the latter is accused of negligence in efficiently overseeing the ration shops in Kota maintained by Sheikh Abdul Qadir. This spurred negligence, resulting in several concerns that were not addressed by the authorities, including those relating to the ration and distribution of the same. These ration-related issues have been pivotal and can be considered as a reason for the disciplinary action because the inspector has not addressed or resolved these issues.

The suspension of Sheikh Abdul Qadir has been made in pursuance of the provisions of the Chhattisgarh Civil Service rules. These rules establish the principle of how government employees who do not perform their duties crowned with responsibility shall be disciplined. These regulations will assist the administration in ensuring that public servants are accountable and serve at the highest standards.

Sheikh Abdul Qadir will be serving the District Office and will be posting under the Food Branch during the suspension. The reassignment card is a temporary redeployment card that is meant to guarantee that the inspector remains under the control of the authorities as further investigations or procedures are being undertaken.

A decision such as that of collector Avnish Sharan is a testament to the commitment of the administration to maintaining high standards in public services. Routine inspections of ration shops have to be conducted to prevent irregularities from being directed to the public in the form of ration. The failure to uphold such roles can also end in starvation for many of the beneficiaries; the latter entirely depend on these services to feed them.
