Bilaspur: Finally, in a remarkable and landmark move, Collector Avneesh Sharan has acted against the unauthorized sale of the Kotwari land by the removal of the guilty Kotwar. This measure was prompted by the recent IDBG report on the alleged sale of some Kotwari land by officials in the region without the approval of the authority.
The said Kotwar, Parmeshwar Das Manikpuri of the village Semartal, had sold the Kotwari land in the Khasra numbers 532 and 553. These lands are set aside specifically for certain community uses, and the laws do not allow them to be sold or conveyed for economic benefit. Hence, the sale of these lands by the Kotwar was unreasonable and against the set Kotwari land laws, making the district administration act instantly.
Once he came to know about the improper sale, the collector, Sharan, immediately directed an inquiry into the said transaction. Inquiry revealed that the transaction was indeed carried out without authorization, and due to this, the person was relieved of his duties as Kotwar as per the order of Parmeshwar Das Manikpuri. This move also helps to discourage other people with similar intentions from indulging in unlawful activities as a means of seeking Justice.
Furthermore, Collector Sharan has also ordered the transfer of the sold lands in favour of the government and recorded it in the new owners. This step helps in maintaining that the lands are not sold to private individuals but rather are under the administration and can be applied as have been purposed. Part of the re-registration process is expected to give the land a correct legal status to eliminate any further unlawful transactions.
The steps that Collector Sharan has undertaken are, therefore, further proof of the government’s compliance with the laws and to ensure that public property is not infringed. Thus, in responding to the problem and minimizing harm to people by the incompetent management of land resources, the administration hopes to prevent and ensure further transparency and accountability.
