Kabirdham: Earlier this month, in a religious ritual in Bhoramdev in Kabirdham district, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai showered flowers with a helicopter over the devotees of Lord Shiva and offered prayers at Bhoramdev Baba temple. Unfortunately, CM Vishnudev Sai, in his speech, took a jibe at the earlier Congress regime, a point that raised the political temperature in the state.

Sai debugged the Congress administration, claiming it had resorted to force against the Sanatan Dharma followers during its reign. He further compared it with his government, which has showered flowers from helicopters on the Sanatan followers instead of applying clubs. He thanked the deities for the people’s blessings, for which he proclaimed that his government had been successful, and prayed for the prosperity of Chhattisgarh state at the temple.

Former minister Shivkumar Dahriya also reacted to the information from the representatives of the government of the state and reacted to the words of the head, discrediting the BJP for using religion in their political activities. For her part, Dahriya blamed the BJP for the polarization of society along caste/religious lines and said that although it is good for devotees to shower flowers on others, such provocative utterances are uncalled for. He claimed that the BJP is not interested in unity and integration, adding that its activities are oriented towards the opposite.

This exchange has amped up the political temperature in Chhattisgarh, and the conflict between the ruling BJP and the Congress party continues. It still shows how much political leadership in that world is touchy regarding discourse and how religious and cultural symbolism affect perceptions and strategies.
