Raipur– In a scathing attack on the central government, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel of Bilaspur expressed dissatisfaction with the current policies and decisions, particularly regarding farmers’ issues. He accused the central government of lacking sufficient funds to support the welfare of farmers, despite promising better conditions in the election year. Baghel criticized the increase in the minimum support price (MSP) for paddy, labeling it unjust and insufficient for struggling farmers.

Addressing the media after the Divisional Conference of the Congress, Baghel emphasized the need to strengthen the party’s organization to ensure the effective implementation of government schemes and to reach the intended beneficiaries. State in-charge, Selja, shared a similar sentiment, urging party workers to unite and strive for victory in all 24 seats within the division.

Expressing disappointment over the MSP hike, Baghel highlighted that the increase was Rs 200 per quintal in the previous election year. However, this time, farmers across the country are protesting, and the increase has been a mere Rs 133 per quintal, which he deemed inadequate and unfair to the aggrieved farmers.

Reflecting on the political landscape, Baghel acknowledged the significance of former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi’s departure from the party, stating that the current Congress government would not have been formed without it. He expressed gratitude towards Jogi and recognized the former chief minister’s role in shaping the region’s political dynamics.

Responding to questions about budget cuts, Baghel highlighted that the central government had ceased financial support for the past two years, indicating a lack of funds for the central government.
