Raipur: Chhattisgarh government is all set to release this Kharif season’s first instalment of Rs 1,700 crore under state’s flagship Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana to the farmers on the occasion of death anniversary of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi on May 21st.
First launched on May 21st 2020, the scheme aims to ensure minimum income to the farmers growing one rabi and 13 kharif season crops as the state provides Rs 9,000 per acre as agriculture input subsidy to the farmers. It’s a customised version of the Nyay Yojana proposed by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during the last Lok Sabha elections.
Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel will release the instalment of Rajiv Gandhi Nyay Yojana at a virtual function directly to the farmers’ accounts while functions would be organised at the district level. The chief minister will virtually address these functions where local elected representatives and the beneficiary farmers will also attend.
Rs 9,000 per acre agriculture input subsidy is being released to the farmers in four instalments every year. The amount of Rs 1,700 crore to be released on May 21st is the first instalment under the scheme for kharif season 2021-22.
