During a Water Conservation and Augmentation workshop organized on Thursday at a privately owned hotel in Raipur, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai reiterated that conservation of water has become one of the most important requirements of the current times. He pointed out that with the administration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Sujalam Bharat Abhiyan is actively becoming crucial in facilitating the management, conservation, and recharge of water resources in the entire country. The Chief Minister emphasized that such a campaign must not be a government project but instead a mass movement to make water secure for future generations.

CM Sai reflected on his optimism that the workshop would act as a breakthrough in the profession of water management, where professionals would share new concepts and experiences. He said that there are several levels at whereby the state government is actively working to conserve and recharge water bodies. He remembered how it had dropped alarmingly by last year the water level of some dams and reservoirs, so the government had acted in time by making sure that people had a water supply in the areas where the tankers were bringing them through. Luckily, the situation has changed, and this year, water bodies have been replenished by adequate rainfall that came in time.

Sai warned that as the exploitation of the water resources continues to increase, society should know that each drop matters. His point to the citizens was to use water conservation not only as a slogan but as a collective movement, since a lack of action now might result in a serious crisis in the future.

Government representatives, environmentalists, water activists, and social organization representatives took part in the workshop, which provided their ideas and recommendations on proper water management.

CM Sai also used the occasion to check the status of the current water conservation drives being undertaken in the state and order officials to increase the level of people’s involvement in conserving local water sources.
