Vishnu Deo Sai, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, has called upon Naxals to put down their guns and embrace the mainstream of development by saying that this is and will never be a successful way of doing things. On his visit to Narayanpur district in the Bastar division, the Chief Minister assured those who turned in with dignity and rehabilitated them.
CM Sai quoted a deadline of March 31, 2026, set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to end Naxal violence. He encouraged militants to utilise the remaining time and give up, saying that the state has launched an extensive rehabilitation policy that has already brought promising outcomes. When they give up, he said, then the government will definitely look after them.
By emphasising the effect of the rehabilitation works, the Chief Minister noted that there was a dramatic change in the attitudes of former Naxals. He observed that organisations that were initially against the programs, such as the Abujhmad Half Marathon, are currently taking part in the marathon after giving up. They are actively participating. This is a big success of the government, he commented.
CM Sai also mentioned the example of the positive change as the introduction of the Bastar Olympics, which was introduced by the state government last year. Some of the surrendered Naxals have attended the sporting event, which is an indication of their being integrated back into society and a shift towards violence.
Once again appealing to the Naxals, the Chief Minister urged Naxals to prefer peace, development and a greater future. He claimed that the government continues to offer people who are ready to drop weapons and go back to regular life opportunities, security and rehabilitation.
