Raipur: In an emotional farewell, Additional Superintendent of Police Akash Rao Girpunje, who died when Naxals detonated an IED in Sukma district’s Konta region, was interred at the 4th Battalion premises in Mana, Chhattisgarh, with great respect and honor from the state.
The funeral was attended by many important people like Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Speaker of the Assembly Dr. Raman Singh, Deputy Chief Ministers Vijay Sharma and Arun Sao, and Home Minister Laxmi Rajwade. These leaders took time to remember the martyr by handling and carrying his remains. High-ranking officers of the police force respected the family by following full military tradition.
Before the military ceremony, a special funeral procession brought ASP Akash Rao’s body out from his residence in Changorabhata, Raipur. The city saw the brave officer honored by hundreds of people taking part as the decorated funeral chariot moved slowly through the center. Throughout the march, visitors remained in silence, folded their hands, saluted, and gave respect to the brave martyr. The high number of people who came showed how much the public cared and respected what he did for them.
At Mana’s 4th Battalion, there was a formal guard of honor, and after that, the state’s top leaders gave floral tributes. The air was filled with sorrow as people cried among the family of the deceased, police officers, and civilians.
