Raipur: Chief Minister Vishnudeo Sai returned to Raipur from Delhi tour. During this, he discussed with journalists at the airport. In which he has given statements on paddy procurement and other issues. CM Vishnudev Sai said regarding paddy procurement, farmers need not worry, Modi has a guarantee. Paddy will be purchased from farmers at the same price at which it has been agreed to buy.
Paddy, the staple rice crop, pulsates at the heart of Chhattisgarh’s agrarian economy. Its procurement by the government plays a crucial role in ensuring fair prices for farmers and food security for the nation.
Chhattisgarh boasts a robust procurement system, achieving record levels in recent years. In the 2022-23 Kharif season, the state procured over 107 lakh tonnes of paddy, exceeding its target and marking the highest ever. This success rests on several pillars:
The state government offers a bonus over and above the MSP set by the central government, making Chhattisgarh one of the most lucrative markets for paddy. This year, the bonus amounted to a significant Rs 600 per quintal, incentivizing farmers to sell their produce through official channels.
Chhattisgarh has a dense network of over 2,600 purchase centers across the state, ensuring accessibility for farmers even in remote villages. This minimizes the need for distress sales to private traders at lower prices.
The online portal, cgpaddyonline.co.in, allows farmers to register, track their produce, and receive payments electronically. This promotes transparency and reduces delays and bureaucratic hurdles.
Regarding meeting the central leadership in Delhi, CM Sai said that he met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and National President JP Nadda in Delhi. Regarding the formation of the cabinet, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai said, the cabinet will be formed with new and old faces. The cabinet will be formed before or after the assembly session. On this he said that we will have to wait for a while, the cabinet will be formed soon.
