Raipur: In a letter directed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Mr Bhupesh Baghel has raised two requests regarding the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in the state.

Firstly the Chief Minister has urged the Prime Minister to assign targets, for the remaining houses on the waiting list under PMAY in Madhya Pradesh. Currently, there is a number of 18,75,585 beneficiaries registered on the waiting list based on the Socio-Economic Caste Census 2011 (SECC 2011) conducted by the Indian Government.

Secondly, Chief Minister Baghel has requested target allocations for 8 lakh 19 thousand 999 beneficiary families of Awas Plus in the state. This initiative aims to ensure that a substantial portion of the population can access suitable housing under this program.

In his letter, the Chief Minister emphasized that out of the approved list, an impressive 73.5% (8,63,567) of houses under this scheme have already been successfully completed. However addressing the remaining housing demands is crucial to fulfilling people’s aspirations and achieve PMAYs objectives.

The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is a housing initiative by the Indian government with a goal of providing “Housing, for All” by 2022. Chief Minister Baghels’ proactive stance, towards addressing the housing requirements in Madhya Pradesh and seeking assistance, from the government showcases the states dedication to realizing this vision.
