Raipur: The state government has made it essential in schools across the state to recite “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram” and “Vaishnav Jan to Tene Kahiye Ji” on a daily basis in order to instil the good ideals of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation.

Chief Minister Mr Bhupesh Baghel said, “These two favorite Bhajans of Gandhiji will be recited regularly in the schools of Chhattisgarh. This will inculcate good values and thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi among school students.”

On October 31, he paid respect to Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birthday. The chief minister added that the lives of both former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Mrs. Indira Priyadarshini Gandhi and former Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel were influenced by Gandhi’s views, pointing to a major similarity in their characters.

He said, “This will be a tribute to both of these eminent personalities. The spirit of social unity and harmony will be strengthened among the children of the state through the thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi, who is also his inspiration”.

He also emphasised the importance of imbibing the basic spirit of Gandhiji’s favourite hymns and applying them in daily life. He added, “The relevance of Gandhi’s favorite hymns has increased in the changing socio-political environment all over the world. National unity and social harmony is the basic nature of India and to make politics a medium of service, it is the duty of all of us to feel the pain of the needy, victims, and the underprivileged and ensure helping them in every possible way”.
