Raipur: The unique identity of culture is reflected in its language, customs, traditions and distinct dialect. Honoring a standing desire Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has granted a government holiday on World Tribal Day starting from August 9 2022. This thoughtful gesture allows them to wholeheartedly celebrate their customs and festivals while showcasing the Chhattisgarh government’s dedication, to their growth and well being.
In order to strengthen culture the Chhattisgarh government has initiated the Examination and Development of Tribal Cultural Scheme. Under this scheme, efforts are being made to construct and repair Devgudis─ places of worship for tribals in tribal regions. Over the four and a half years, significant improvements have been made in funding for Devguri Thakurdev and Cultural Center Ghotul Construction/Repair Scheme.
The financial allocation for each Devguri has increased from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh marking a fivefold increase in funding for the scheme. Additionally, concerted efforts are underway to protect the practice of Ghotul that holds significance among the Abujmadia tribal communities.
The steadfast commitment of the Chhattisgarh government towards preserving and promoting culture is evident through its allocation of Rs 2763.5185 lakh over the four years, for 83 Devguris.
Moreover, as part of an initiative to promote the heritage of Abujmadiya, a budget of Rs 104.470 lakh has been set aside for building 100 Ghotuls in the Narayanpur district within the Bastar division.
