Kanker: Last rights of Chhattisgarh Deputy Speaker Manoj Mandavi were carried out with state honours at Nathia village, Kanker. Mandavi breathed his last at a private hospital in Dhamtari. The Baghel administration has announced state mourning in Raipur and Kanker.
Bhanupratappur MLA Manoj Mandavi was admitted to Dhamtari Christian Hospital Bathena and suffered a heart attack on Sunday morning. His death took everyone by shock as the leader participated in a rally held by his younger son.
Amongst those who involved in the last rites of the MLA were Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, PCC President Mohan Markam, Assembly Speaker Charandas Mahant and all senior leaders of the party.
Mandavi was elected as a member of the undivided Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly in the year 1998 and of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly in the year 2013 and 2018. The three time MLA was the face of the tribal society in the Bastar region. He also led the Home and Prisons Dept during the Ajit Jogi-led Congress government in the state from 2000 to 2003.
