Chhattisgarh: Amidst the deepening tussle for power over the state, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Health Minister TS Singh Deo convened with Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi on Monday. Returning back to Raipur, CM’s supporters staged a show of strength at the airport on Wednesday. While addressing the media, Baghel said, “the High Command has given me the responsibility of the CM, if they ask me only then will I give up the post.”
On the contrary, TS Singh Deo who also left the decision to the High Command was stopped by the State in charge PL Punia for another day. During his extended stay, the Health Minster convened with several senior leaders overnight. On the departure of TS Singh Deo from Delhi, it was reported that he flew to Bhopal instead of Raipur as his team received an indication of another meeting with the Gandhi’s. Sources inform that TS Singh Deo has asserted the centre fulfilled its promise bestowed during the formation of the state government in 2018.
According to Deo’s claims, the centre had promised the transfer of ministership after a period of two and half years of the current govt in Chhattisgarh. A similar internal rift erupted in the Congress party in Punjab where Ministers and MLAs demanded a transfer of baton. Two Congress-ruled states are now battling to contain rebellions threatening their government in Punjab and Chhattisgarh.
