CM Baghel Writes to Amit Shah on Naxalism in Chhattisgarh, Seeks Approval for Pending Proposals

Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday, requesting him to approve the pending proposals for development works in Naxalite-affected areas in the state of Chhattisgarh.

CM Baghel also sought assistance from the Central Government in generating large scale employment opportunities in the region and requested to approve the eradication of Left-Wing extremism from Bastar.

Referring to his meeting with the Union Home Minister Shah last month, Baghel wrote in the letter that the plans for generating employment in Naxalite-affected regions was discussed, and details of the previous pending proposals and new proposals of Chhattisgarh were listed down.

The proposals include – installation of 1,028 mobile towers, continuing with the Special Central Assistance Scheme, approval for an India Defense Corps (IR Battalion), improving the resolution of UAV Cameras, increasing the resolution of the camera used in NTRO UAV provided by the Centre, deployment of Railway Protection Security Force at Kumarasadra (Bastar) and Kamalur in Dantewada to protect rail property.

Baghel added that there is a huge need for OFC connectivity in Bastar and areas affected by the Left-Wing Extremists; which can be generated by increasing the number of towers for IT & Telecom Infrastructure and to provide 3G/4G connectivity facilities. Also, there is a requirement for approval for all the irrigation schemes.

The Chhattisgarh CM also said that the Central Silk Board, Bangalore, has a proposal of Rs.1032.54 lakhs under the ISDSI (Integrated Scheme for Development of Silk Industry) from Bastar Division which also need the approval of the Centre.

CM Baghel expressed hope that the assistance and support of the Centre will help improve the standard of living for the people in Bastar region.
