New Delhi: After holding a three-hour-long meeting with Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi, CM Baghel and Health Minister will separately convene with the General Secretary Organization, KC Venugopal in Delhi today. Sources also inform the duo will also meet Sonia Gandhi in the coming days of their stay in Delhi. Mr Gandhi met Baghel and TS Singh Deo at his residence in Delhi amid the alleged ongoing tussle overpower in Chhattisgarh.
On Tuesday, Congress leader and party’s Chhattisgarh in-charge PL Punia informed that there had been no discussions on change of ministership in the state. In response to reporters questioning, Punia told that issues related to governance and development were discussed during their meeting. He denied the leadership issue being discussed.
Asked about the rotational chief ministership issue, he said: “There was speculation about it in the media. There was no discussion on that.” Asked whether Baghel will remain the Chief Minister, he said, “He is the Chief Minister.”
Party sources said splitting the five-year tenure was discussed between Rahul Gandhi, Singh Deo and Baghel ahead of the decision taken by the Congress leadership to name Baghel as the CM in mid-December 2018.
AICC in charge of Chhattisgarh had earlier held several meetings to resolve the situation and consequently, MLA Brihaspati Singh backtracked from his statements. But as he failed to persuade TS Singh Deo, the matter was raised to the party leaders. Congress is also battling similar issues in Punjab and Rajasthan.
