Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel shall reach New Delhi today evening to attend the CEC meeting scheduled to be held on Monday. The Central Election Committee (CEC) is the highest decision-making body of the Indian National Congress (INC) on matters related to elections. The CEC is responsible for selecting candidates for the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha elections, as well as for state assembly elections.
As per his schedule, the chief minister shall leave Raipur by 6 PM flight and reach New Delhi by 7:45 PM. At present, the Congress members are conducting an internal election committee meeting at CM Baghel’s residence.
The CEC meeting on Monday is expected to finalize the list of INC candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in Chhattisgarh. The elections are scheduled to be held in November-December this year.
Baghel is the leader of the INC in Chhattisgarh and is also the incumbent chief minister of the state. He is expected to play a key role in the CEC meeting and will be responsible for ensuring that the INC selects strong candidates who can win the elections.
The CEC meeting is also significant because it comes at a time when the INC is facing a number of challenges in Chhattisgarh. The party is facing stiff competition from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is the main opposition party in the state.
