Raipur: Chhattisgarh’s Chief Minister, Bhupesh Baghel, recently made a request to Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the state’s upcoming legislative assembly elections. CM Baghel has urged for a prohibition on alcohol. His demand comes as a response to the remarks made by Mohan Bhagwat, the Chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) during a Vijayadashami rally held in Nagpur.

During his speech, Bhagwat commended the government and stressed the significance of voting after evaluating its performance. He also hinted at the RSS’s efforts to foster connections with the community viewing it as an end to animosity. The RSS has been actively engaging with representatives. Bhagwat advocated for embracing inclusivity rather than adopting a victim mentality.

Bhagwat’s speech encouraged individuals to embrace inclusiveness and avoid playing the victim. He pointed out that blaming others for challenges is counterproductive. He stated, “People claim they are unable to find housing in neighbourhoods and are forced to reside in their communities. Have fellow citizens within our country become so distant? It is being suggested that through this statement Bhagwat has given approval, for Prime Minister Modi’s initiative to engage with the community.”

Chhattisgarh’s Chief Minister, Baghel, has again emphasised the need for a ban on alcohol across the country, highlighting an issue that has been widely discussed in Indian society. This demand coincides with the state’s legislative assembly elections, and Baghel’s position may carry political significance, especially given the diverse opinions on alcohol regulation and prohibition in India. As the political landscape evolves, it remains to be seen how this demand will be received and whether it will influence the policy discourse in the state and beyond.
