Raipur: The Chhattisgarh government on Wednesday softened a bit due to the ongoing agitation of the police family in Raipur since the past two days. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has ordered to formulate a high power committee with Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Himanshu Gupta as its chairman to consider their demands.
Women, children, and men belonging to the families of assistant police constables are protesting in the state capital since the past three days demanding; regularization, salary increase, and right to equal pay. A women said that the police department cites lack of regular jobs as the reason behind their grievances. They all want that the assistant constables should be promoted to the post of constable and regularized in the department. Further, they also want weekly leaves with rule of compassionate appointment to be implemented.
Earlier on December 6, these relatives of the policemen tried to protest at the police headquarters. Later in the night, the agitators remained frozen in the capital and on December 7, the demonstration again gained its momentum.
