Raipur: Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel has instructed the chief secretary of state to launch a statewide de-addiction drive. The chief minister has asked top official Amitabh Jain to consult renowned individuals and organisations working against addiction in the nation and prepare a detailed action plan for the same.
A press note was released on Thursday by the state government ensuring that detailed action plan is on its way and today CM Baghel announced the beginning of de-addiction drive in the state through his Tweet.
“People consume Ganja, bhang, tobacco, liquor, and others for addiction and the state government has been trying to prevent it and make the society addiction-free. But until and unless people are connected with the cause, the campaign against addiction acould not be successful”, CM Baghel said.
Alcoholism is a major problem in Chhattisgarh, with more than half of the male population and one-third of the female population consuming alcohol. The problem is particularly acute in rural areas, where poverty and unemployment are widespread. Alcoholism has a number of negative consequences, including violence, crime, and health problems. It also puts a strain on families and communities.
The government of Chhattisgarh under the leadership of CM Baghel has taken some steps to address the problem of alcoholism, such as banning the sale of alcohol in certain areas and providing treatment for alcoholics. However, more needs to be done to tackle this serious issue.
