Korba: A range of crucial infrastructures will soon be established within the city site; for instance, a new world-class Indoor stadium on Chirra-Shyang road at Tipinagar, renovation, and rededication of any three hostels owned by two colleges in the city. These projects were okayed when the District Mineral Foundation (DMF)’s governing council sat and in line with the recommendations of Commerce Industry and Labor Minister Lakhan Lal Devangan.

Approval of Projects in City

Speaking at the same meeting, it was informed that ₹11 crore has been sanctioned for a much-needed CT scan machine in Korba. Minister Devangan pointed out a multi-level parking building under construction, bringing focus to the fact that it was uncompleted. He said that in the event construction is not resumed, the building should be changed to a hospital.

The district collector stated that a specific notice has been served to the contractor, which will urge the contractor to resume work, and if no work is taken up in 15 days, the banker’s guarantee will be encashed, and a new work order will be awarded. The necessity for designing such a building stems from the fact that after its use is over, it will, in turn, be repurposed.

Support from Locals

Many local representatives were present in the meeting, such as Korba MP Jyotsna Mahant, Katghora MLA Premchand Patel, Pali Tanakhar MLA Tuleshwar Singh Markam, Rampur MLA Phoolsingh Rathia, the collector, district panchayat president, and CEO of district panchayat. Rampur MLA Phoolsingh Rathia thanked Minister Devangan for approving the construction of the long pending Chirra–Shyang road.

Shivkala Kanwar, District Panchayat President, observed that roads were constructed right from independence, but this particular road has remained incomplete to this day. Minister Devangan also stated that the groundbreaking of the long-awaited under-bridge at the Sanjay Nagar railway crossing site would soon start. It involved compensation and relocation payments that had to be made to the families that would be affected by the development.
