Raipur: Chhattisgarh health minister TS Singhdeo has directed the dean of CIMS medical college, Bilaspur to investigate the complaints into the purchase of Mechanised Laundry Machine. Besides, it has been decided to take steps upgrade CIMS to a 900 bed hospital.
During the purchase of the machines, it is allegedly that the criteria fixed were also not followed accordingly. As per the rules, state medical services corporation has been established under Public Health and Family Welfare of the State Government to purchase equipment, medicines, and materials for medical education, and health services.
It has been made mandatory in all departments to obtain NOC from CGMSC before equipment, machines, medicines, and other external agencies are procured but this was not also followed. CIMS purchased a machine allegedly at a higher price while Raigarh Medical College has bought a similar mechanized laundry machine for an amount of Rs 18,94,069 whereas CIMS paid an amount of Rs 54 lakhs for the same.
Meanwhile, the CIMS Dean informed that the hospital at present has 710 beds, pointing out that recognition for 200 seats inthe MBBS course requires necessary infrastructure. On this, the health minister directed to prepare a proposal for a 900-bed hospital and send it to the government.
