Raipur- Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel transferred an amount of Rs 18.47 crore to the beneficiaries of the Godhan Nyay Yojana. The distribution included Rs 5.05 crore allocated to cattle herders, farmers, and landless individuals in exchange for procuring 2.52 lakh quintals of cow dung. Additionally, Gauthan Committees received Rs 7.79 crore, while women’s groups were granted Rs 5.53 crore as dividends, per an official statement.
The cumulative sum disbursed to beneficiaries has now reached Rs 507.14 crore. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel emphasized the scheme’s significance, highlighting that cow dung has been procured at Rs 2 per kilogram since July 20, 2020. As of June 30, 123.56 lakh quintals of cow dung have been purchased from Gauthans. More than 5,419 Gauthans participate in the initiative, procuring over 30 quintals of cow dung. It is commendable that self-supporting Gauthans have independently acquired cow dung worth Rs 64.61 crore through their resources.
