Raipur: In a concerted effort to expedite the approval process for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has penned a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marking his second correspondence with the PM ahead of the impending assembly elections. This communication particularly emphasized accelerating the housing scheme, which has seemingly been on hold for an extensive period, urging for an urgent verdict to be made.
In his letter, CM Baghel highlighted the urgency to endorse the housing for approximately 6.99 lakh families listed under the Awas Plus initiative, in addition to the 8.19 lakh families currently on the permanent waiting list for the PMAY in the state. He solicited the Prime Minister to allocate the necessary central share amount alongside the housing target to facilitate the seamless progression of the initiative.
Furthermore, CM Baghel pointed out that the Central Government had retracted the allocation of houses previously stipulated for 2021-2022, affecting 81,999 families. He elaborated that the state government has taken the step to allocate state funds to the outstanding 6.99 lakh families who are on the permanent waiting list, coupled with those identified in the 2023 Economic Survey, thereby supporting an additional 47,000 families. This proactive step was taken to enable the construction of houses under the scheme, thereby benefiting many residents in the state.
Baghel has explicitly requested PM Modi to expedite allocating the central share amount to ensure the uninterrupted construction of houses, aiming to provide deserving families with much-needed relief and shelter. The state government eagerly awaits a positive response to foster continuous regional development and prosperity.
