Raipur: Working towards the goal of ‘Garhbo Nava Chhattisgarh,’ Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has implemented a strict zero-tolerance policy against crimes targeting women over the past five years. As a result, the state has witnessed a substantial 40% reduction in such incidents. Baghel underscores that the safety of women is a top priority in the state, emphasizing the core principles of justice (nyay), trust (vishwas), and security (suraksha).

In line with this commitment, the government has taken significant steps to enhance women’s safety. Notably, a 40% decrease in crimes against women has been observed since 2019, and this has been achieved by focusing on dedicated women police stations in four districts and the operation of women cells in 455 police stations and posts.

Furthermore, the state has made substantial progress in countering Maoist incidents, with a notable 52% reduction in such incidents between 2018 and 2022. The government has also made efforts to rehabilitate and reopen 314 schools that remained closed for over a decade due to Naxalite violence, fostering better educational opportunities.

The state government’s commitment to restoring peace and security extends to 589 villages declared “Naxal-free.” Over 5.74 lakh people have been freed from the grip of violence and terror, bringing about significant positive change.

To address concerns about deteriorating law and order, the government has strengthened the Gambling Prohibition Act. This includes stringent provisions against gambling, even in online forms, reaffirming their dedication to maintaining law and order in the state. These comprehensive efforts reflect the government’s commitment to safety, justice, and development in Chhattisgarh, underscoring their ‘Garhbo Nava Chhattisgarh’ vision.
