Bhopal: Motilal Vora, the 93-year-old Congress leader, passed away during the early hours of Monday. He took his last breath at the Fortis Escort Hospital in New Delhi. Earlier on October 16, he was discharged from the AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) after getting cured of a viral ailment caused by COVID-19.
Lately, he was admitted at the Fortis Escort Hospital situated in the capital city, with some urine infection; but he did not die due to the urine infection, as per the Congress sources. “Vora was hospitalized with urine infection two days back but it was not the cause of his death”, stated the source.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to his Twitter handle to express condolences over the demise of the veteran Congress leader.
PM Modi, through his Tweet, paid tribute to the late Congress leader’s ‘vast administrative and organizational experience’, tweeting – “Shri Motilal Vora Ji was among the senior-most Congress leaders, who had vast administrative and organizational experience in a political career that spanned decades. Saddened by his demise. Condolences to his family and well-wishers. Om Shanti” – Tweeted PM Modi.
Vora was born on December 20, 1927, at Nimbi Jodha, close to Jodhpur in Rajasthan. He served as a Rajya Sabha Member from Chhattisgarh for a time span of 18 long years, starting from April 10, 2002, and ending on April 9 of the current year. He has also served as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, between January 25 to December 8, in the year 1989. The late Congress leader had also served as the Governor of Uttar Pradesh, from 1993 to 1996.
