Raipur: The dates for the urban body elections in Chhattisgarh have been announced. Beginning at 8 am the polling will be held for 15 urban bodies in the state from December 20th, for which the resulta would be announced on December 23rd. The State Election Commission has reiterated impelmentation of online nomination this year as well. Hosting first of this kind of nomination, Chhattisgarh aims 100% online enrollment.
On November 27th, the District Collector will issue the notification regarding the by-election. As per the notice issued the nominations will br held between November 27th and December 3rd. However, December 6th is the last day for the withdrawal of nominations. With the announcement of the dates, State Election Commissioner Thakur Ram Singh said at the State Election Commission office, Naya Raipur that the code of conduct has been implemented. “The state has been preparing from 2-3 months to hold elections in 10 districts and by-elections in 11 districts, he added.” Roughly 7, 78,720 lakh voters will be participating in the upcoming elections as per the statistics held by the State Election Department.
1000 polling stations, 37 centres will be built for the by-elections. The elections will be conducted through ballot paper for which authorities have approved 18 types of ID proofs. The option of NOTA will be there. Out of 15 urban bodies, 10 districts have been subjected to elections these are 4 municipal corporations- Birgaon, Bhilai, Bhilai-Charoda and Risali are included. In 5 municipal councils, elections will be held in Sarangarh, Baikunthpur, Shivpur Charcha, Jamul, Khairagarh, six Nagar panchayats – Premnagar, Maro, Narharpur, Konta, Bhairamgarh and Bhopalpatnam.
