Raipur: Citing pandemic, Chhattisgarh has decided to call off the Independence Day grandeur consecutively for the second year.
In a meeting held by the Deputy Secretary to the Governor, Shri Deepak Kumar Agarwal on Tuesday, at the Raj Bhavan, announced low key celebrations on August 15th this year.
Authorities have called off the parade and cultural events for the 75th Independence Day. It has decided to hold the main function at the Raipur Police Parade ground during which the CM would unfurl the national flag, following which the police and paramilitary forces would salute and thereafter CM would convey his message. No civilians will be allowed at the event.
As per the dialogue on Tuesday, the Commissioner municipal corporation was entrusted with the responsibility of the Raj Bhavan premises, while Superintendent of Police and Chief Security Officer Raj Bhavan were authorized to coordinate the arrival arrangements. Collector of Raipur has been entrusted with the invitation responsibility.
The state authorities have issued a list of chief guests that would solicit the event in the districts and tehsil level. All organizations and institutions have been instructed to refrain from conducting any social program and rallies.
