Raipur: The cold season is rapidly getting hotter as the climax of the winter season in Chhattisgarh deepens. This weather has brought along rain and cold winds, hence reducing the temperature by about 2 degrees Celsius in some parts of the country. Not only maximum temperatures have gone down, but the minimum temperatures have also gone down, though the meteorological department has forecast degradation of 4 to 5 degrees Celsius in the next few days. The decrease in the intensity of the western disturbances has even changed the winds throughout the state.
Sunday was also warm, with a high of 28.9˚C and a low of 18.7˚C for Raipur. The trends in the other regions were as follows: Mana 29°C, Bilaspur 28.2°C, Pendraroad 25.6°C, Ambikapur 26°C, Jagdalpur 30.2°C and Durg 31.2°C. Minimum temperatures varied from 16.8° C in Mana to 13.2° C in Pendraroad.
As a result of the cold weather enhancement, security measures in hospitals in Raipur are also to be improved. The state human rights commissioner, Mahadev Kavre, has said this while briefing officials during a meeting and urging them to come up with enhanced security measures for the government’s consideration. Some of the measures include the escalation of new and more CCTV cameras and the timely response to the reception of complaints through the toll-free line 112. The following steps are taken to ensure that undesirable events do not occur in hospital facilities.
At the same time, community efforts are also being made in full force. This camp is organized by Badhte Kadam and Model Blood Bank at Marine Drive, Telibandha. The camp will be from four in the afternoon to eight in the evening. Further, the swamis of both the Shri Digambar Jain Panchayat Trust and the Women and Girls’ Committee will organise spirituals at the Shri Adinath Bada Jain temple in Malviya Road. The programme of Bhaktamar Kavya recitation followed by a grand aarti will continue from 8 PM onwards.
As the temperatures go even lower, the city has been preparing with better safety and social engagement and provisions for warmth and support for its people.
