Raipur: After the conclusion of the second phase of voting for the Chhattisgarh Assembly elections, Chief Election Officer Reena Babasaheb Kangle held a press conference, providing details related to the electoral process. She revealed that the voter turnout until 5 PM, for the Chhattisgarh Elections was 68.15%. This marks an increase of 1.5% compared to the voter turnout in the first phase of the previous legislative elections. Kangle mentioned that this time, polling centers were set up even in remote areas with fewer voters.
During the polling process, 1,962 sector officers fulfilled their responsibilities. Out of the 18,833 polling centers, webcasting was implemented in more than 9,000 centers. However, a minor 1-2% malfunction was reported in the machines during voting.
In a somber note, Kangle informed that during the return journey of the polling party, Head Constable Yogendra Singh lost his life in an IED blast. Despite this tragic incident, all other polling parties returned safely.
The legislative constituencies that participated in the second phase of voting included Bharatpur-Sonhat, Manendragarh, Baikunthpur, Premnagar, Bhatgaon, Pratappur, Ramanujganj, Samri, Lundra, Ambikapur, Sitapur, Jashpur, Kunkuri, Pathalgaon, Lailunga, Raigarh, Sarangarh, Kharsia, Dharamjaygarh, Rampur, Korba, Katghora, Pali-Tanakhar, Marwahi, Kota, Lormi, Mungeli, Takhatpur, Bilha, Bilaspur, Beltara, Masturi, Akaltara, Janjgir-Champa, Sakthi, Chandrapur, Jaijaipur, Pamgarh, Saraipali, Basna, Khallari, Mahasamund, Bilaigad, Kasdol, Balodabazar, Bhatapara, Dharasiva, Rajim, Bindranawagarh, Sihawa, Kurud, Dhamtari, Sanjari-Balod, Doundi Lohara, Gundardehi, Patan, Durg Rural, Durg City, Bhilai Nagar, Vaishali Nagar, Ahirwara, Saja, Bemetara, and Navagadh.
