Raipur: Citing the declining COVID-19 curve, the Chhattisgarh administration had previously announced to permit schools to resume offline classes from August 2nd.
Gates of several schools in Raipur flung open for the Class 10 and 12 students on Monday, while only one school in Bastar division resumed offline classes.
The schools would operate with 50 per cent attendance, for which the prerequisite is that the COVID-19 positivity rate of the district concerned should be 1% for the last 7 days.
The government has also allowed the resumption of schools for Classes 1 to 5 and Class 8 subject to certain conditions. But physical Classes for Classes 6, 7, 9 and 11 will not be started immediately.
However, there has been no cancellation of online classes. Schools have proposed to continue online classes for those not willing to attend school physically.
The state education department has issued guidelines for the students, which they would have to pertain to whilst attending physical classes. As per the guidelines, students must and should carry their own essentials apart from sanitizers, hand wash and masks that would be provided by the school administration. They have also been instructed to follow the COVID behaviour on the premises. If any student presents with a cold and cough, he/she will not be allowed to attend school until completely fit.
Colleges and schools were shut in the state after the second wave of coronavirus began in March this year. The decision to reopen schools was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel recently.
