Raipur: Chhattisgarh on Saturday received a batch of 1.40 lakh Covishield vaccine for inoculating beneficiaries in the group of 18-44 years from the centre. The above information was revealed by State Immunization Officer Dr Amar Singh Thakur.

Raipur Airport director Rakesh Sahai said that 384 kg’s of Covishield vaccine had been sent in 12 boxes that will be handed over to the state health department. With this, the state health authorities have informed the resumption  of the vaccination on Sunday where people aged between 18-44 years can get themselves vaccinated  after registering on the state vaccination portal CG TEEKA.

The state had declared an acute shortage of  vaccine doses for the 18 plus group on May 28. With the shortage of the vials, the state vaccination rate had dropped to 8,000 from 20,000 in the recent past.

Since the inception of the vaccination drive for the age group of 18-44 years old from May 1, as many as 7,60,141 people of 18-44 of age group have received their first dose. Unlike other states, Chhattisgarh is operating the vaccination drive on their local website CGTEEKA, which is not linked with the centre’s COWIN app., as the state has fixed a ratio for APL, BPL and frontline categories.

Meanwhile, the state’s daily count continued to dip on Saturday recording 26,977 active cases. The cumulative  death count of the state was recorded at 13,162 after the hospitals registered 23 deaths in the past 24 hours.
