Raipur: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has given a rain forecast for various districts in Chhattisgarh and issuing a rain warning. Places such as Dantewada, Sukma, and Bijapur have received orange alerts for the next three hours. On the other hand, Gariaband, Dhamtari, Bastar, Kondagaon, and Narayanpur have received yellow alerts. Yesterday, various districts in the state also recorded significant rainfall.

Chhattisgarh Rain Records

This time Chhattisgarh has recorded heaviest rainfalls throughout the season. The rainfall levels reached 150 mm in Rajim, 92 mm in Ambikapur, 70 mm in Pendra Road, 90 mm in Gobra Nawapara, and 70 mm in Mainpur-Abhanpur region. Raipur also witnessed the heaviest rainfalls during the current monsoon season, and there are expected rainfall in the city today also, due to the possibility of more thunderstorms. The IMD reports even say that the rainfall is expected to intensify towards the Southern area of the state by July 17.

The rainfall statistics were provided by State Level Control Room or the Revenue and Disaster Management. Since June 1, an average of 248.5 mm of rainfall has been recorded in Chhattisgarh. And the data which has been collected also shows that Bijapur showed the highest rainfall, receiving 410.7 mm, and Surguja had the lowest rainfall with 135.3 mm.

Impact

The alerts which have been issued by the IMD shows the severity of rain in Chhattisgarh during the current monsoon season and the residents in these districts are recommended to take some necessary precautions. The orange alert shows that the districts are likely to have heavy rainfall which might even lead to flooding and waterlogging in some areas. During this time, it is recommended for the residents to avoid their travels and stay updated with the news channels.

The districts which are currently under yellow alert shows that the weather will be less severe but they shall still take the cautions. In these districts, light to moderate rainfall is expected to occur and the residents are advised to take necessary precautions.
