Raipur: Days after the Union Health Ministry directed state health departments to upgrade their health care facilities, Chhattisgarh health department has begun its preparation for the third wave of the pandemic.
As per an assessment by the Union Health Ministry, only 2 to 3 per cent children were affected by the virus in both the waves. As for the third wave, the virus might account for 5 percent of the total children of the nation, stated the Health Ministry.
In accordance with this, the state has prepared its healthcare facility and reserved 5 per cent beds to children in all COVID dedicated hospitals and establishments. During the second wave nearly 31,000 beds were provided for treatment. However, now the state is uplifting its capacity to 50,000 beds per hospital. As per the above number, Chhattisgarh will have 10,000 beds across private and government hospitals and COVID establishments.
Currently, 170 beds have been dedicated for children at an indoor stadium in Raipur. Out of these 70 beds have been provided with oxygen support. Ayurvedic Colleges have also established 30 bedded paediatric ICU and ventilators. The Ambedkar hospital has also reserved 100 beds for children and pregnant females. AICU in Pandri District Hospital has allotted 10 beds for children.
