Durg: Chhattisgarh police have achieved a major success in the district’s intensive campaign against drug trafficking. Police have seized 620 kilograms of marijuana from the Veerpur police station area, estimated to be worth approximately ₹2.48 crore in the international market.
Superintendent of Police Sharath RS announced this action during a press conference held at the Veerpur police station premises. The SP stated that based on intelligence, a special team was formed under the leadership of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Veerpur, and the raid was conducted.
The raid was conducted in Shubhankarpur village, Ward No. 10, under the jurisdiction of the Veerpur police station. A total of 620 kilograms of marijuana, hidden in 20 sacks, was recovered from the corn field of Anisur Rahman, son of Mohammad Ghaffar.
Investigation Continues
SP Sharath RS stated that a continuous campaign is being waged against the drug trade in the district and this action will continue with full vigor in the future. A case has been registered at the Veerpur police station in this matter. Police are investigating the backward and forward linkages of the marijuana smuggling operation to arrest other suspects involved in the network.
The raiding team included SDPO Veerpur Surendra Kumar, Station House Officer Rajkishore Mandal, SI Shailendra Yadav, SI Sikandar Rai, armed forces, and the DIU team. All the marijuana bags were duly sealed in the presence of Basantpur BDO Sujit Kumar Mishra. This police action has created panic among drug dealers.
