Lucknow: Oxygen tanker from Chhattisgarh to UP failed to reach the needy on time. After witnessing a shortage of oxygen at the Medanta Hospital in Lucknow, Congress National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi sought help from Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel.

On the request, the Pankaj oxygen tanker departed from Urla on Sunday morning. After covering few miles, the oxygen tanker broke down at Lakhanpur around 5 pm on Monday. It is reported that the vehicle was forced to stop twice due to mechanical issues. Later near Ambikapur, the oxygen carrier was repaired after the SDM rushed with a team to the spot.

Sources reveal the tanker stopped due to a brake failure followed by a pressure pipe burst at the two locations respectively. The tanker was started from Ambikapur at 10 pm. After more than five hours, the lives of hundreds was on its way to Medanta Hospital in Lucknow. 

In regards to the oxygen capacity in the state, the Bhupesh Baghel government claimed adequate oxygen production.

According to Health Minister TS singh deo, the oxygen production in the state is 388.79 metric tonnes. and the state possess 250 Metric tonnes of liquid oxygen. Hospitals in the state are currently in need of 180 Metric tonnes of oxygen, therefore it is lending its oxygen to neighbouringstates.
