Chhattisgarh: The Bhupesh Baghel led administration in its bid to ease domicile certificate issues faced by the locals generated a new order according to which, individuals who completed their studies out of Chhattisgarh would also be eligible to obtain the residence permit. The State Council of Ministers (CoM) took this decision on Sept 8 in a meeting presided over by CM Bhupesh Baghel.
However, on Tuesday evening the CoM amended the old guidelines and added a criterion according to which the parents of the individual should mandatorily be residents of Chhattisgarh and hold a domicile certificate. In the order issued on Tuesday, the administration reiterated that the previous guidelines for the application of residency ship for the parents would remain the same.
This decision comes in the backdrop of several local students who pursued an education in the neighbouring states complained of issues in procuring a domicile certificate. As per the previous guidelines for an individual to be eligible for the Domicile certificate had to either be born in Chhattisgarh or should have been residing in the state for 15 consecutive years. Additionally, the parents of the individual were supposed to be employed at a state or govt sector or possess an immovable property in the state for 5 years. Moreover, the individual was mandated to hold a certificate certifying education in Chhattisgarh or any district of undivided MP included in Chhattisgarh for nearly 3 years.
