Raipur: The Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Monsoon Session ended on Friday. The Assembly speaker, Dr Charandas Mahant pronounced the end of the monsoon session in the house.
This was the eleventh session of the fifth assembly that commenced on July 26. As per the information released by Dr Charandas, the assembly conducted five meetings during the session.
The session witnessed chaotic discussions and allegations on matters of paddy procurement, illicit liquor sale, discrepancies in Education system, Cow dung theft and procurement issues. The monsoon session’s most trivial discussions was initiated by Congress MLA and Tribal Legislator Brihaspat Singh, who accused Health Minister TS Singh Dev of allegedly planning an attack on the convoy of a former member of the party in Ambikapur town.
The session witnessed 30 queries raised by the opposition. Nearly 375 starred and 342 unstarred questions were addressed by the house. On the whole, 717 questions echoed during the monsoon session.
Speaker Charandas Mahant said that nearly 244 attention notices were initiated during the session, out of which 65 were accepted, as the administration deployed respective department officials for the task. The house saw the introduction of four bills that were passed during the session.
The winter session for the state Legislative assembly is tentatively expected to be held in the third week of December.
