Raipur: Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur is encountering the second wave of coronavirus with adverse effect. Regarding the lockdown and damage control, a High level meeting of the Health Department chaired by Health Minister TS Singhdev, Agriculture and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ravindra Chaubey was held today.
After the meeting, Health Minister TS Singhdev has indicated during the media interaction that the lockdown is not going to happen in a hurry in Raipur. However, he said that the collector would take a decision on the lockdown as per the situation.
Health Minister Singhdev has described the condition of Corona in Raipur as worrisome. On lockdown, the Health Minister said that “There is more loss than gain with imposing lockdown. Lockdown is not an option to end the coronavirus. Based on past experiences, it can be said that the number of patients can be reduced by lockdown, but its side effects are much more.”
“Last time there was a lockdown of more than 50 days, even experts believe that the corona cannot be eliminated by the lockdown, ” he further added.
Health Minister TS Singhdev, Agriculture and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ravindra Chaubey were taking a meeting at the new Vishram Bhawan Circuit House in Raipur. Alongside, officials including Raipur Mayor Ejaz Dhebar, Senior Officer of Health Department, Raipur Collector, SP, Police Department were also present.
Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh has recorded 4174 cases and 33 deaths in the last 24 hours. The state capital Raipur reported 1405 new cases alone, which is the highest this year.
The Covid-19 tally of positive cases in the state rose to 3,57,978. As many 321873 have recovered with 31858 active cases remaining.
