The rising rivalry within the congress party leaders in Chhattisgarh was not hidden for the last few months. It reached a level where the Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel and State health minister TS Singh Deo had to meet congress party leader Rahul Gandhi today to discuss the rising issues between them. Congress’ Chhattisgarh in-charge and senior leader PL Punia was also present at the event.
The meeting concluded at around 3 pm today. After the meeting, PL Punia said that no talks of leadership change had been made in the meeting. “Bhupesh Baghel has agreed to whatever decision the high command takes. He says he will be the Chief Minister as long as they wish”, he said adding that both Deo and Baghel have agreed to the decision of their leaders.
The rift between the party leaders started when Singh Deo walked out during an assembly meeting upon allegations that one of his relatives was involved in an attack on Brihaspat Singh, a congress legislator. A source close to Deo revealed that though there are no chances of him joining the BJP party as of now, he would also not like to serve under Baghel’s leadership.
