Raipur: State Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai is emerging as a new convenience to the population of Chhattisgarh. Thus, from July 2024, the people of the state can pay the registration charges through net banking or UPI for the registration of land and houses through the NGDRS system in all the registration offices. This facility is provided as per directions of the Finance and Commercial Tax Minister OP Chaudhary, and the Inspector General of Registration & Superintendent of Stamps has ensured the implementation for making the registration peaceful for the public.

Preparatory to this, registration fees used to be received in cash, check or demand draft because of the absence of online payment means. Concerning the new fee payment through the online system is in line with the core of the department for faceless, cashless, and paperless registration. This system shall incorporate the verification procedure through Aadhaar where necessary, thus allowing people to execute property sale deeds from the comfort of their homes.

It is notable that, in the initial stage, in order to avert any problem for the common people, an organization with the registration department and for the time being, fees can be paid in cash or check along with an online payment system. Such a transition period would enable the public to be acquainted with the new system without much of a hassle.

As for the public, it will be an even more suitable and comfortable experience of the registry as online payment will be used instead of handing over money to the staff at registration offices, which, in turn, will be helpful for the offices’ staff, as well. The NIC-operated NGDRS system, which is also being used for document registration in all the state offices, will gain an added advantage with this enhancement.

The objective of this particular measure in Chhattisgarh is to increase the effectiveness and openness of the registration process. Besides, it eliminates the possibilities associated with the bulky handling of cash and makes fee payment more secure as well as reliable.
