Raipur: A good news for cricket lover, Chhattisgarh will soon be commencing the Chhattisgarh Premier League, which will be designed following the pattern of the Indian Premier League. All the matches held in the tournament will be broadcasted live on the sports channels of national television.
Praveen Jain, the Director of Congress Sports Cell, confirmed the onset of the state premier league, announcing that the probable beginning month is so far going to be the month of March.
There will be matches among all the 27 districts in the state, as each district will consist of its own team of players, just as IPL teams consist of players from different states. Strategies for preparing teams for all the 27 districts will be discussed during the Sunday meeting at Rajiv Bhavan.
According to Jain, a number of units have been constituted by the Congress Sports Cell in Chhattisgarh, which works with the motto of attracting the youth of Chhattisgarh towards active sports. Initially, various national and international sportspersons have joined the units to encourage the youth. While there were no categories for women sportspersons in state-level sports, the sports cell units in the state have included 33% women in the units till now.
