Gariaband: A petition of providing a 132 KW sub-station for Indagaon was sanctioned in 2016. The village now seems to patch up with the problem of power that existed in the past.

220 villages of the Devbhog Amalipadar region have been provided with electricity. A total sum of 68 crores is sanctioned for this project.

The order for the project was issued on 7th February last year. The officials under the control of the HighNess Branch of the Power Department have prepared a foundation for 70 out of 230 towers to be built in the line section, apart from the basic work of the substation.

An approximate count of 20,000 trees will be harvested during the project as 42km are in the 68km tower line, under the purview of the forest department.

Forest Department MD Ashok Kumar stated – “the department has completed the entire process of NOC. Tree cutting orders are expected to be received within a week.”

35 crores given to forest department in 68 crore projects

The project initiates from 132 sub-centers set up at Chameda in the block of  Power City, from here Indagaon is 68 km. The supply cable is to reach 230 high towers (of 30 to 40 MT) with the line passing through the 42 km forest area.

The Power Department has acquired 111.456 hectares of the tower of Dhamtari, Gariaband, and Udanti Sanctuary; for which it paid a huge sum of 35 crores to the department against forest land after obtaining all types of  NOC under the three-year-long process.

The wasteland of Champa turns into a green belt

According to the Forest Act, the plantation is to be done on double the acreage instead of the land use. Therefore, the Power Department will have to plant 220 hectares of land for which 35 crores have been deposited under the concerned head of the forest department. The forest department has identified the land in the Balodi area of Champa for this plantation.

The Power drips arrive earlier this year

With the increased consumption of the locality during the summers of April the 11 kW lines, more than 60 years old, continue to fall. But this season the power department has been struggling with the falls, since February. From February 1 to February 5, 10 to 12 hours daily power service is being disrupted, apart from Gul, low voltage problem is also witnessed.

The project is targeted to be completed by June 2021. If the work continues seamlessly, Indagaon will soon get rid of the power problem.
