In a horrifying incident in the Kondagaon district of Chhattisgarh, a woman threw away her newborn baby to a pond to hide her illicit relation from society. The woman had a relationship with a 30-year-old man named Ajay Das for many years now. They did not get married but she got pregnant outside of the marriage.
To hide their illicit relation and being unable to bear the responsibility of the child, the 23-year-old woman threw the baby alive in a pond in the Halbapara region. Both the accused are residents of Vishramapuri. The woman gave birth to the child on Aug 10 after which they decided to throw the child on the pond on the night of Aug 11.
The incident came to light on the morning of Aug 12 when locals from the Halbapara region went to take bath in the pond. They found the dead body of the newborn baby floating in there and informed the local police and SDOP Bhupat Singh.
The investigations were on since then to nab the culprits and after 17 days, on Friday, the deceased woman and her confidante Ajay Das have been taken under custody by the Vishramapuri police. Further proceedings on them are pending under the jurisdiction of the Kondagaon district.
