Raipur: The Chhattisgarh HC has announced to hear the writ petition filed by suspended ADG GP Singh on July 15.
Suspended IPS officer had moved to the court after the Raipur Police had filed an FIR against him on the charges of sedition under IPC Section 124A and 153A IPC for promoting enmity. Additionally, ADG Singh had also sought for an interim relief of stay on the cases against him claiming that the CBI investigation was prejudiced and he was charged for false allegations.
Earlier ,the Chhattisgarh government had moved to the SC filing caveats against the suspended IPS officer.
On the 11 July, Former CBI Judge Prabhakar Gwal , demanded a fresh probe into the 2012 suicide case of Bilaspur Superintendent of Police Rahul Sharma, alleging a link between that death and the now suspended IPS officer Gurjinder Pal Singh.
1994 Batch IPS officer Gurjinder Pal Singh was suspended on July 5th after the Anti-corruption Bureau and Economic Offences Wing raided his residence in Raipur and 15 other locations simultaneously on 1st July which lasted until 3rd July. An FIR was lodged by the Raipur Police stating recovery of documents from the IPS officer’s residence that promoted enmity and hatred, and proved possession of illegal assets.
