Chhattisgarh: Ashok Juneja replaced DM Awasthi, the DGP of Chhattisgarh, on Thursday. This decision was made at the Chief Minister’s review meeting on Thursday, according to information gathered from sources.
Following CM Bhupesh Baghel’s review meeting, it was revealed that the current DGP, DM Awasthi, was underperforming. As a result, it was determined to replace the DGP in the state’s interest of law and order.
Awasthi has recently been the subject of several complaints. The Chief Minister voiced his displeasure with his role in the refund of chit fund victims and the reimbursement of charges against the agents during the review meeting. Apart from that, the Chief Minister was dissatisfied with his role in the dismissal of Naxalite proceedings against innocent tribals, the dismissal of political cases, and the provision of weekly leave to police officers.
According to the sources, Chief Minister Baghel requested responses regarding action against chit fund companies during the review meeting. He inquired about the money seized from these businesses and how much of it had been restored to the victims. Baghel also inquired about the formation of a special team to apprehend the chit fund scam suspects, but received no suitable response. Following this, the administration chose to dismiss him from his position.
