Raipur: The Chhattisgarh government is set to launch the Gaudham Yojana, a scheme focused on livestock safety, breed improvement, and rural employment generation through organic farming, fodder development, and cow-based industries, a statement issued by the government on Saturday said. Besides, the government also introduced state gramin bank today.

The scheme aims to provide proper care to stray and abandoned cattle while ensuring that cattle and cowherd attendants receive a regular income. Charwaha or the cowherd attendant will be paid a monthly honorarium of Rs. 10916, while cattle attendants will receive Rs. 13126. Besides, the scheme also ensures a fixed daily allowance for fodder. The draft scheme has received approval from the finance and livestock development department.

Furthermore, the Gaudhams will be built on government land with facilities like secured fencing, cattle sheds, water supply, and electricity. The scheme also has a provision for voluntary organisations, farmer producer companies, or cooperative societies can apply if a registered cowshed committee declines to operate a Gaudham.
