RAIPUR — In a significant step towards fostering a “developed Chhattisgarh,” a delegation from UNICEF India paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai at Mantralaya’s Mahanadi Bhawan. The meeting, which underscored a mutual commitment to advancing child welfare and development, concluded with a pledge of technical support from the international organization.
Chief Minister Sai warmly welcomed the delegation, acknowledging UNICEF’s global contributions to public welfare. “Chhattisgarh stands to benefit greatly from UNICEF’s technical expertise,” he stated. He then detailed the state government’s developmental blueprint, the Anjor Vision 2047 document, which aligns with India’s broader goal of becoming a developed nation by its 100th year of independence.
UNICEF is also supporting the Hamari Swasth Laika program in Chhattisgarh, which has shown very positive results. This initiative is also being adopted by other states like Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Odisha.
Chief Minister Sai appreciated the contribution being made by UNICEF India in Chhattisgarh and discussed in detail the possibilities of technical cooperation in various fields in future keeping in mind the goals of Anjor Vision 2047. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for building a developed India by 2047. In the same sequence, the Chhattisgarh government is also determined to build a developed Chhattisgarh and for this the Anjor Vision 2047 document has been prepared.
The Chief Minister stated that under Anjor Vision 2047, the upliftment of the tribal community, particularly the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG), is among the top priorities of the government. UNICEF’s cooperation will be extremely important in improving the indicators of health and nutrition including infant mortality rate and malnutrition.
The Chief Minister also discussed the importance of better health and education for the empowerment of adolescent girls. On this occasion, Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Subodh Kumar Singh, Secretary to the Chief Minister Rahul Bhagat, Secretary of Women and Child Development Department Shammi Abidi, Health Secretary Amit Kataria, Chief of UNICEF Chhattisgarh William Hanlon Jr. and Dr. Bal Paritosh Das were also present.
