Chhattisgarh has become one of the most successful states in implementing the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, with a high score across various parameters in the 202526 financial year.

By April 1, 2026, the state will have verified 97 percent of its active workers using e-KYC, enhancing transparency and efficiency in wage payments. Overall, e-KYC has been completed for 58.16 lakh workers. Also, 11.32 lakh assets developed within the framework of the scheme have been geo-tagged, making it easier to track and monitor development works.

One of the greatest advances has been the introduction of GIS-based planning. The state has prepared a GIS-based action plan for 2,86,975 works in 11,668 Gram Panchayats to be undertaken in the financial year 2026 27, using the Yuktdhara portal. This will guarantee scientific, needs-based planning in line with local needs.

In an attempt to increase transparency, Chhattisgarh has implemented a face-authentication-based National Mobile Monitor system at MGNREGS worksites. This system has enhanced attendance tracking, making it more reliable and accurate.

In a citizen-focused initiative, QR codes have been placed in Gram Panchayats, allowing citizens to get in-depth details on current and completed projects. Almost 5 lakh QR code scans have been recorded since September 1, demonstrating the program’s efficiency and usefulness to the population.

These governance and digital reforms have boosted accountability, transparency, and efficiency in the implementation of MGNREGS in Chhattisgarh. The model of the state is now seen as an example for other states eager to empower rural employment initiatives with technological solutions.
