Raipur: In a recent development, A seven-day lockdown will be enforced in municipal limits of Raipur and Birgaon beginning July 21 at 9 pm in view of the rising number of COVID-19 cases, an official said on Saturday.

This comes after a high-level meeting in the capital Raipur held today was over . There has been a general consensus among all the authorities that in view of the increasing corona infection in the capital, a complete lockdown of one week must be imposed.

The Collector S Bharthi Dasan,  informed that the lockdown will be imposed from 9 pm, 21 September to 28 September in the containment zones. However, the order has not been issued yet and it may release today late evening.

The entire area under Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) and Birgaon Municipal Corporation (BMC) in Raipur district has been declared as containment zones, collector S Bharathi Dasan said in an order.

Several activities will be restricted during July 22 to July 28 midnight, the official said.

All the guidelines and the precautionary measures will soon be made availed for the public in the order.

Chhattisgarh has so far recorded 81617  COVID-19 cases and the number is increasing day by day. Raipur Alone has over 26,000 coronavirus cases and 300 people have succumbed to death.

Apart from Raipur, Balod district administration had already announced complete lockdown from 22 to 30 September. The Collector has implemented this in the affected gram panchayats along with all the urban bodies of the district, exercising the rights conferred in the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897. There’s been entire lockdown  imposed in Bemetara from 13 September to 20 September.

The entire lockdown of 1 week had been imposed in the  Mungeli district as well. The lockdown was imposed from 17 to 23 September. Apart from this, lockdown has also been done in Durg and Rajnandgaon. According to the source, Bilaspur district may soon announce the lockdown. People have demanded lockdown in Dhamtari district.
